Search District and Taluka Court Case Status by Case Number

The official eCourts Services portal allows users to search District and Taluka Court cases by case number. To perform the search, select the relevant court details and case type, then enter the case registration number, registration year and Captcha.

What is search by Case Number?

Case Number search is used when you know the registration number assigned to the case. The official eCourts Case Status service currently asks for the Case Type, Case Number, Case Registration Year and Captcha before displaying the matching case details.

After the matching record appears, the portal provides a View option through which the case history can be opened.

Steps to search a case by Case Number

  1. Open the official eCourts Case Status page. Use the official service button above.
  2. Select the State. Choose the State or Union Territory relating to the concerned District Court.
  3. Select the District. Choose the district in which the case is registered.
  4. Select the Court Complex. Choose the relevant court complex and, where required, the Establishment.
  5. Select "Case Number". Choose the Case Number search option from the Case Status search interface.
  6. Select the Case Type. Choose the applicable case category from the list shown on the portal.
  7. Enter the Case Number. Type the case registration number.
  8. Enter the Case Registration Year. Use the year in which the case was registered.
  9. Enter the Captcha. Type the displayed alphanumeric Captcha in the required field.
  10. Click "Go". The matching case details will be displayed.
  11. Open the Case History. Where shown, click the View button against the case to see its case history and available details.

If you do not know the Case Number

If the case number is not known, the official eCourts portal also supports other Case Status search criteria such as Filing Number, Party Name, Advocate Name, FIR Number, Act and Case Type.

If the 16-character alphanumeric CNR number is available, it can be entered directly on the main eCourts Services search page without a hyphen or space. The CNR search provides access to the current status and history of the case.

Important points while searching

Make sure you select the correct court establishment, case type and registration year. The same numerical case number may exist for different case types or years, so all required fields should be completed accurately.

Online information is based on data made available by the concerned court establishment. For certified copies, official orders, filing requirements, limitation periods or legally binding court records, follow the applicable court rules and directions of the concerned court.
