Meghalaya Police e-FIR & Online Complaint
Meghalaya Police provides online citizen services through its official CCTNS Citizen Portal. Citizens can create an account, submit an e-FIR or online complaint, upload required documents and use available FIR-search services.
Current law: BNSS Section 173
From 1 July 2024, the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (BNSS) replaced the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 for the new criminal-procedure framework. Section 173 of the BNSS governs information relating to cognizable offences.

How to file an e-FIR or complaint online in Meghalaya
- Open the official CCTNS Citizen Portal Visit citizen.megpolice.gov.in.
- Create a citizen login or sign in New users can use the "Create citizen login" option. Existing users can sign in with their username, password and security code.
- Select the required service Choose e-FIR or Complaint, as applicable, from the services available in the portal.
- Select the complaint category Choose the category that best matches the incident or information you want to report.
- Fill in the application carefully Enter accurate contact details, incident details, place/date/time information and particulars of persons involved, if known.
- Upload required documents Attach supporting documents or other material requested by the portal. Do not upload altered, misleading or irrelevant material.
- Review and submit Check the information before submission and save the acknowledgement/reference generated by the portal for future tracking.
How to search or view a Meghalaya Police FIR
Meghalaya Police also provides an FIR search facility. The official search page asks for details such as FIR number, police station and FIR date range. Availability of a downloadable copy depends on the data and access made available through the official system.

The current CCTNS Citizen Portal also lists services such as Character Certificate, Employee Verification, Domestic Help Verification, Tenant/PG Verification and Event/Performance Request.
