What is the National Career Service portal?

National Career Service is a government employment-services platform providing job listings, employer connections, career guidance, job-fair information and links to other recruitment portals. Jobseekers can search opportunities from government and non-government employers. An NCS listing is a discovery facility, not a substitute for an official recruitment notification.

How to register for jobs on NCS in 2026

1. Open the official website. Visit ncs.gov.in and select Register or the jobseeker registration option.
2. Choose the account type. Select Jobseeker under the registration options. The official registration page may require JavaScript.
3. Enter personal information. Supply your name, date of birth, gender, state, contact details and any identification or verification information required by the current form.
4. Add education and employment information. Enter your highest qualification, skills, work experience and job preferences accurately. Fields vary by registration flow.
5. Verify contact details. Complete any OTP, captcha or other verification steps shown on the portal. Create or confirm your login credentials as instructed.
6. Accept the applicable declaration. Review the information, privacy terms and consent options before submitting the registration form.
7. Sign in and complete your profile. Use your NCS credentials to add qualifications, work history, preferred sectors, locations and any supported documents or resume.

The portal may offer DigiLocker integration for relevant documents. Follow the official jobseeker manual for detailed instructions, bearing in mind that older screenshots may not match the current interface.

How to search government jobs on NCS

1. Visit the NCS portal and open the Jobseekers menu.
2. Choose Search for Jobs or Jobs in Government sector, if displayed.
3. Enter keywords such as designation, skill or qualification, and select a preferred city, state or all-India search.
4. Review available filters, including employer type, job category, experience and sector, where provided.
5. Open a vacancy to check duties, eligibility, salary information, location, closing date and application method.
6. For a government vacancy, verify the notification and submission instructions on the recruiting department or commission website before applying.

How to apply for a vacancy

After selecting a suitable listing, click the available Apply or equivalent option. You may be asked to sign in, complete your profile, or continue to an employer's recruitment website. Follow the employer's notification, upload the requested documents, complete any applicable recruitment-specific payment on the verified official recruitment website, and save the acknowledgement or application number.

Applications do not always remain within NCS. The recruiting employer may impose its own eligibility conditions, selection stages and deadlines. Do not assume that registering on NCS constitutes an application for a particular government examination or post.

Search jobs by sector, qualification or state

Jobseekers can narrow searches by job role, industry or sector, preferred location, education, experience and other filters offered on the portal. For state-specific employment services, NCS also provides a directory of government employment portals. Delhi applicants can consult the linked Delhi employment portal, while applicants from other states should use the relevant official state service.

To improve matching, update your profile whenever you gain a qualification, certification or work experience. Use job preferences and alerts where available, and revisit vacancies regularly because listings and deadlines change.
