What is an IFSC Code?

IFSC means Indian Financial System Code. It is an 11-character alphanumeric code used to identify a bank branch participating in electronic payment systems such as NEFT. The first four characters identify the bank, the fifth character is zero, and the final six characters identify the branch.

For State Bank of India, IFSC codes generally begin with SBIN0.

What is a MICR Code?

MICR means Magnetic Ink Character Recognition. In Indian cheque processing, the nine-digit MICR sort code identifies the city, bank and branch. MICR technology was introduced to support mechanised cheque processing, and cheque clearing has since moved to the Cheque Truncation System, where cheque images and associated data are transmitted electronically.

How to use an SBI IFSC Code safely

When adding a beneficiary for NEFT or RTGS, enter the account number and branch IFSC exactly as confirmed by the beneficiary or the bank. Check the beneficiary name displayed by your banking service where that facility is available. A correct IFSC helps route the payment to the intended bank branch, but it does not replace verification of the beneficiary account details.

About this SBI Delhi directory

The table above preserves the branch information previously published on this page and presents each branch, IFSC and MICR code in a separate row for easier reading. Because banking directories can become outdated when branches are merged, renamed, relocated or assigned new routing details, the official SBI Branch Locator should be treated as the primary source for current branch information.
