How to verify an SBI IFSC code

Use SBI's official branch locator

Search by branch or location and compare the current branch details with the beneficiary information supplied to you.

Open SBI Branch Locator

Check account records

RBI guidance provides for IFSC information on customer passbooks or account statements. Use current bank-issued records where available.

IFSC and MICR are different

An IFSC identifies a bank branch for electronic fund-transfer systems such as NEFT and RTGS. MICR means Magnetic Ink Character Recognition and is a separate banking code associated with cheque processing and clearing. Do not substitute one code for the other.

Important payment safety note

Always verify the beneficiary name, account number, bank branch and IFSC before confirming a transfer. A correct-looking code alone does not establish that the beneficiary account details are correct. If branch information does not match, confirm the details with the beneficiary or SBI before proceeding.
