What If the FIR Is Not Available Online?

If you cannot find the FIR, first verify:

FIR Number & Year Confirm that the number and year were entered correctly.
District Make sure the correct district or police unit is selected.
Police Station Check that the FIR was registered at the selected police station.
Registration Date Verify the date where the portal requires it.

An FIR may also be unavailable because the record has not been made available online, the portal has changed, the service is temporarily unavailable or access to the particular record is restricted.

In such circumstances, contact the concerned police station or the appropriate Andhra Pradesh Police authority for assistance.

Current Law Relating to FIR Copies

The Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (BNSS) replaced the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 as the principal criminal-procedure law from 1 July 2024.

Section 173 BNSS deals with information relating to cognizable offences. The current statutory framework therefore differs from older guides that refer only to Section 154 CrPC.

Where information relating to a cognizable offence is recorded, Section 173(2) BNSS provides for a copy of the information to be given forthwith and free of cost to the informant or victim.

FIR search and FIR registration are different The View FIR facility is primarily for accessing an FIR that has already been registered and is available in the police database. To report a new offence, use the appropriate complaint or e-FIR service provided by Andhra Pradesh Police, where available, or approach the appropriate police station.
