Legal update: BNS, BNSS and BSA
Domestic help verification on this page should be understood as a citizen/police verification service. This guide does not state that BNS, BNSS or BSA creates a single nationwide standalone rule compelling every household to register every domestic worker. Where a District Magistrate, police authority or other competent authority issues a local verification direction or order, residents should follow that current direction.

Frequently asked questions
Is the old HP Police port-8080 link still needed?
No. Use the current secure Citizen Portal at https://citizenportal.hppolice.gov.in/citizen/login.htm.
Can I submit domestic help verification online?
Yes. The HP Police Citizen Portal currently lists Domestic Help Verification as an e-Service. Sign in, open the service and complete the request shown on the live portal.
Do I need to visit a police station?
The service can be initiated online. However, the police may require further action, clarification, document verification or physical appearance depending on the request and current procedure.
What if the portal asks for different documents?
Follow the current live form. Portal requirements can change, so the documents displayed by the official HP Police service should take priority over older screenshots or third-party instructions.
Are BNS, BNSS and BSA applicable now?
Yes. The three new central criminal laws came into force on 1 July 2024. Their commencement does not by itself mean that every household in India is subject to one uniform domestic-help-registration requirement.
