Official UIDAI method to retrieve a lost EID or UID
If you have lost or forgotten your Aadhaar Enrolment ID (EID) or Aadhaar number (UID), UIDAI provides an online Retrieve EID/UID service on the MyAadhaar portal. You can choose whether you want to recover your Aadhaar number or your Enrolment ID.
Current UIDAI position: online retrieval is free. You need the full name recorded in Aadhaar, the mobile number or email linked with Aadhaar, captcha verification and OTP authentication.

Steps to retrieve your Aadhaar EID or UID online
- Open the official UIDAI Retrieve EID/UID page on MyAadhaar.
- Select Aadhaar Number (UID) or Enrolment ID (EID), depending on what you have forgotten.
- Enter your full name as recorded in Aadhaar.
- Enter the mobile number or email linked with Aadhaar and complete the captcha.
- Request and enter the OTP received on the registered mobile number, then submit the verification.
- After successful verification, UIDAI sends the requested UID/EID details through the registered channel, as applicable.
What if your mobile number is not linked with Aadhaar?
UIDAI also provides offline/assisted options. You may visit an Aadhaar enrolment centre and use the available assisted service after identity matching and biometric authentication. UIDAI also states that its toll-free helpline 1947 can assist in retrieving enrolment details.
