Current FIR law under BNSS 2023
The Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 came into force on 1 July 2024 and now governs the procedure relating to information about cognizable offences for current cases.
Section 173(2) provides that a copy of the information as recorded shall be given forthwith, free of cost, to the informant or victim.
Online FIR view versus FIR copy for legal use
