OBDRS provides a Registration Status service to check whether a birth event has been registered. The portal indicates that status can be searched using an online request number or registration number and other requested details.

They also provide that, for a person born on or after 1 October 2023, the birth certificate can serve as a single document for proving date and place of birth for the statutory purposes specified in the Act.
The amendment also modernised delayed-registration provisions. For reporting delayed by more than thirty days but within one year, the amended framework permits prescribed self-attested documentation. For delay beyond one year, the authorising authority is the District Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Magistrate or an Executive Magistrate authorised by the District Magistrate, subject to the applicable law and rules.
