- Where the service is shown as kiosk-based, visit an authorised Pragya Kendra/ServicePlus kiosk with the required birth proof.
- Provide the particulars required for the birth record, including the child, parents and place/date of birth.
- Submit the supporting document applicable to the place of birth.
- Keep the application/reference or acknowledgement number supplied after submission.
- Use the official JharSewa facilities to track the application or download the issued certificate when available.
JharSewa currently describes this as a statutory citizen service and states a service-delivery period of 30 days after submission, excluding government holidays.

Check Status and Download the Birth Certificate
Retain your application or reference number. JharSewa provides a dedicated certificate-download page that asks for the reference number and verification code. Depending on the stage of the service, application tracking may also be available through the ServicePlus/JharSewa interface.

Birth registration is governed by the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969, as amended by the Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Act, 2023, which came into force on 1 October 2023.
The 2023 amendment provides for digital registration and electronic delivery of certificates. It also makes the birth certificate the prescribed proof of date and place of birth, for the statutory purposes listed in the Act, for persons born on or after 1 October 2023.
Delayed Registration
Section 13 permits delayed registration subject to the prescribed procedure. Information given after the prescribed period but within 30 days may be registered on payment of the prescribed late fee. For a delay of more than 30 days but within one year, written permission of the District Registrar or other authorised authority and the prescribed self-attested document are required. After one year, an order of the District Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, or an Executive Magistrate authorised by the District Magistrate is required.
